Singaporean actor Adi Putra, who is now based in Malaysia, was conferred the title of “Datuk” on Tuesday (24 October), according to photos and videos posted on the 36-year-old’s Instagram account.
The actor received the title at the Abu Bakar Palace in Pahang and dedicated his recent success to his family. In one of two posts published by the actor, Adi said in Malay, “To the mother, father and family whom I love, this success is for you as well as all of my beloved fans.”
Adi was one among many other celebrities who were conferred the title, including actor Idris Md Yusof and singer Siti Nurhaliza.
In Malaysia, the title of Datuk is typically awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the country.
