Singapore singer Nathan Hartono will be releasing his first-ever Mandarin song entitled “爱超给电” on 7 February.

According to a media release by Warner Music Singapore (WMS) on Monday (5 Feb), the latest song is the Mandarin version of his 2016 English single “Electricity”, and will be released exclusively via China’s Tencent Music Entertainment Group. WMS will release the song across other digital platforms from 9 February.

The upcoming release is also one of five tracks to be featured in the 26-year-old’s full Mandarin EP, which is slated to drop later this year. Fans can expect Mandarin renditions of his previously released songs as well as fresh new hits.

It’s a new sound for me and I honestly have no idea how people are going to react, but I can’t wait to find out,” said the former finalist of China’s reality talent show “Sing! China”.

Hartono has come a long way since making his singing debut in 2005 after winning the Teenage Icon singing competition. In 2017, he was nominated for Most Popular Overseas Singer at the MTV Global Chinese Music Awards.

But the singer feels he still has a lot of work to do when it comes to improving his Mandarin. In a recent chat with Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore at the opening of Fendi’s new outlet at ION Orchard, he gave himself a 5.5 out of 10 rating.
