Singapore will host the Miss Top of the World Plus Size (Miss TOTW PS), an international plus size pageant, for the first time in November.

Representatives from all over the world will be competing in Singapore from 8 to 13 November, with the winner receiving a crown and a sash together with the title of “Miss Top of the World Plus Size”. The public will also be able to attend the ceremony by signing up using this link.

This annual international plus size beauty pageant is in its second year running, and seeks to celebrate women’s curves while promoting health and fitness. The inaugural pageant was held in Latvia last year.

Contestants in the pageant are not assessed by ‘conventional beauty standards’, but by their poise, intelligence and talents. These are evaluated through photo shoots, cultural events and personal profile interviews.

Last year’s winner for Miss TOTW PS, Singaporean make-up artist Fiona Tan, is also the director for this year’s pageant in Singapore. Speaking about bringing the international plus size beauty pageant to Singapore, Tan called it “a dream come true”.

“I hope to inspire Asian women of all shapes and sizes to celebrate their bodies, while combating body image issues, eating disorders and body dysmorphia. We are here to defy societal norms and overcome limiting beliefs about what constitutes beauty,” she added.

Singapore’s representative this year is plus-size model Priscilla Boh.
