Singaporean actress Tan Kheng Hua has officially become our fitness role model after she posted a photo of herself on Instagram on Monday (4 December) showing off her toned physique. For the record, Tan is 54 years old.

The star of the popular “Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd” television series has been attending fitness sessions with local gym UFIT Singapore over the last few weeks, and had posted the photo to mark the final day of her exercise journey.

Besides being able to improve on her strength and muscles, the “Crazy Rich Asians” star has definitely brought active ageing to another level – a reminder to us all that you can still be physically fit at any age.

“People think training and gyms are for young people. SO. WRONG. Sure, start when you’re young, but keep it up when you get to my age, and really need it for all the right reasons,” said Tan in the caption. “Which has little to do with appearances but everything to do with function and mobility to maintain and enhance your quality of life. What’s left of it!”

After seeing those incredibly toned arms and core of hers, we’re pretty psyched to hit the gym.

For those who dont want to see a mid-50s year old woman’s body – please move onto the next post! Because today is my last day of KhengxUFIT collaboration and i owe it to all the @ufitsingapore peeps who have worked with me these last few weeks photos of my bod! After some pretty detailed exercises which look easy but leave me winded because they remind me of all the muscles i never knew i had, but which i need to strengthen to hold my aging body up and keep it moving the way i want it to move, there are some pretty significant changes to this old bod of mine. The two areas where change is most obvious – my arms and my core. Yay. Refer to photos. And this is with no shift in how i eat. I still love and eat bread. Not a lot of it, but i do. So imagine if you were fully committed to changing your body shape for whatever reason – through @ufitsingapore training and personalised diet plans, you can! And with enough will power – in double quick time and with great company guiding you all the way. People think training and gyms are for young people. SO.WRONG. Sure, start when you’re young, but keep it up when you get to my age, and really need it for all the right reasons – which has little to do with apoearances but everything to do with function and mobility to maintain and enhance your quality of life. What’s left of it! Thank you @wendyriddell – for your nutrition chats @rachel.harling And @tsvety_ivanova For being so wonderful as personal trainers. @jacqui.on.the.run For always taking such great photos archiving my journey. I call all of you friends now. And @jamesforrester8 @jasminechong._ And #indran for opening up this door to a whole new world. I dont want to close it now. My body will never forgive me.
