Singapore actor Tay Ping Hui will not be renewing his contract with Mediacorp after being with the company for 20 years, and has signed with Chinese entertainment company Perfect World Pictures.

The latest news was confirmed by The Celebrity Agency, who announced it on their social media platforms on Friday (9 March).

#TayPingHui is starting a new chapter of his acting career in the regional market, signing on with Perfect World Pictures (Singapore), with the fullest support and encouragement of Mediacorp which he has worked with for two decades. We @the_celebrityagency wish him all the best!!” said the Mediacorp talent agency.

Tay has been active in the local entertainment industry since 1998 after he was signed to the company, which was then known as the Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS).

He has since starred in many television dramas such as “A War Diary” and “Bountiful Blessings”. The multi-talented artiste has also performed the theme songs of popular shows such as “The Unbeatables III” and “Double Happiness I”.

Some of his accolades includes Best Supporting Actor at The Star Awards in 1999 for his role in the Mandarin drama “Stepping Out”.

In China, Tay starred in a 2007 fantasy series entitled “The Legend and the Hero”, in which he played the role of Huang Feihu. He acted alongside stars Fan Bing Bing and Liu De Kai.

He made his directorial debut in 2013 with basketball-themed movie “Meet the Giants”, which was a collaboration between China and Singapore.
