Simon Yam publishes new photography book

21 Jul - Known for his love of photography, Simon Yam recently released his coffee table photography book, "Hong Kong Views: Another Perspective".

As reported on Mingpao, the actor took the advantage of this year being the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's handover to China to release the new book, which was launched at the Hong Kong Book Fair on 19 July.

Simon stated that he wanted to use the lens to "show the beauty of Hong Kong, to help others to appreciate the scenic views, and to bring out the positive energy in Hong Kong citizens, in hopes that it will encourage everybody to love one another".

"The world becomes more and more obsessed with mobile phones and the online world. People are ignoring each other in real life, and the scenery around them as well. I hope through the photography, people will wake up, walk around the street and see the beauty of Hong Kong," he said.

He also revealed that the Hong Kong Trade Development Council also plans to translate the book into English and bring it overseas in order to promote Hong Kong tourism.

When asked how long has he been preparing for the book, Simon shared that he spent seven months taking photos, shooting over 10,000 photos, and selected 120 of the best ones for the album.
