"Shuttle Life" to compete at International Film Festival of India

10 Nov – Malaysian award-winning drama "Shuttle Life" has been officially selected to compete at the 48th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), against 14 international films from across the globe for the coveted Golden Peacock award.
Tan Seng Kiat's latest film had already collected several international accolades including Best Film, Best Actor (Jack Tan) and Best Cinematographer at the Asian New Talent portion of the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF); Best Actor (Jack Tan), Best Cinematography and Best Production Design at 12th Chinese Young Generation Film Forum Awards; and a Special Jury Award at the 29th Malaysia Film Festival in China.
The movie has also been nominated for Best New Director and Best Cinematography at the 54th Golden Horse Awards, set to take place this 25 November in Taipei, Taiwan.
Starring Jack Tan, Sylvia Chang and Angel Chan, "Shuttle Life" focuses on the struggles of a young man who works hard to support his mentally unstable mother and 5-year-old sister, but is emotionally challenged with tragedy and conflict including the death of his sister.
"Shuttle Life" is the only Southeast Asian film competing at the festival. Other contenders include "Ana, mon amour" (Romania-Germany-France), "BPM" (France), "Angels Wear White" (China), "Racer and the Jailbird" (Belgium-Netherlands-France), "Dark Skull" (Bolivia-Qatar), "Freedom" (Germany-Slovakia), "The Great Buddha +" (Taiwan), "Blank 13" (Japan), "Marionette" (South Korea), "Still Night Still Light" (Canada-China-Mexico), and "A Man of Integrity" (Iran).
IFFI is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia, held annually in the state of Goa, India. The festival's theme for this year is "Celebrating the Future of Cinema", and it will be held from 20 to 28 November 2017.
