Shuhada Shukri announces the end of Shelup Shelup
3 May – Two months after starting her cookie business, Shuhada Shukri, the estranged wife of actor Hafidz Roshdi, recently revealed that she is stopping all orders to her Shelup Shelup cookies product.
On 2 May, the businesswoman posted on Instagram to ask her followers if she should just give up or start something new, after the previous product did not sell well.
"Everybody knows that I started Shelup Shelup prior to Ramadan to live a dream of becoming independent and becoming great people just like all of you. At the same time, I wanted everybody to taste the uniqueness of my product."
"However, as soon as operations started, I was faced with all kinds of tests. Although this is normal in the business world, I realise that I have to simplify my business to move further," she said.
Shuhada stated that she will now stop selling the product and instead focus on the research and development phase of her next product, and that she hopes that she will be able to produce a more significant product.
Comments on the post mostly reiterated netizens' previous criticisms of Shelup Shelup's price range, saying that her previous product was too pricey.
A majority of them stated that Shuhada should target the B40 and M40 when it comes to pricing, and to make it more affordable.
Shuhada was previously criticised by netizens over selling her box of cookies at RM179 per box, with her reasoning of it containing six types of cookies with three dipping flavours and two types of dipping crumbs in one box.
