Shopify goes up against Amazon with new fulfilment service
The Canadian e-commerce platform has been on the up and up in the SaaS scene, and it’s foray into the fulfilment part of e-commerce seems only natural. Shopify has now unveiled plans to invest $1 billion in fulfilment centers across the US, a move that now puts it in direct competition against the biggest e-commerce + fulfillment businesses in the world, Amazon.
Karl Lagerfeld’s memorial captured his larger than life persona
The designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died in February, was honoured in Paris on Thursday with a memorial as upbeat and stadium-sized as the catwalk shows which made him a fashion legend. Karl for Ever, a 90-minute tribute at the Grand Palais, his favoured fashion show venue, was the first public celebration of Lagerfeld and was jointly staged by the three houses for which he worked: Chanel, Fendi, and his eponymous label.
Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle gets fashion nod
Meghan Markle has managed to put herself on the fashion map since she joined the royal family as Duchess of Sussex, donning one sartorial win after another. She’s recently been nominated for the International Fashion Icon Award at the 2019 World Fashion Awards, going up against the likes of Kim Kardashian, Naomi Campbell, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, and Rihanna.

Thom Yorke releases new album and short film
Radiohead’s Thom Yorke will soon be releasing a new solo album Anima, which will have a dystopian theme. He announced yesterday, that along with the nine-track album, there will also be a “one-reeler” short film that’s set to premiere on Netflix, launching on the same day - 27 June.
