There’s not a lot of time left in 2016, but we seriously need to take a moment to celebrate the farewell party a shelter just threw for an adopted dog.

A Honolulu humane society made history Thursday when every single one of the animals at the Hawaii shelter was adopted out. That’s right: the the Hawaiian Humane Society was temporarily empty.

At the tail end (see what I did there?) of the dogs who found homes, little Beauty got an extra special send-off.

Beauty had her very own farewell party in the form of a human chain tunnel.

You can see her in the video below with her new owner, Jan. She has the look of happiness written all over her, doesn’t she?

The adoption efforts were part of of Wednesday’s brilliant “Clear the Shelter” campaign.

As a result, anyone could go in to find a new furry friend and have their adoption fees waived. The goal was to clear out the shelter by the new year. And amazingly, it did just that.

“It was the first time in Hawaiian Humane history that our shelter has cleared out all the animals available for adoption,” Suzy Tam, communications coordinator for the shelter, told The Huffington Post.

Finding homes for all those animals meant the shelter could put more focus on their resources which helped rescue 270 dogs from an abusive environment.

“The community has been amazing,” Tam continued. “They’ve just been supportive and wanting to adopt, so we’ve been really fortunate.”

Even with all this good news, the shelter didn’t stay empty for long.

The humane society received 15 new animals Friday due to their open-admission policy, and can get upwards of 65 new animals a day. Because they never turn away an animal that’s dropped off, those cages fill up quickly. Tam did say all but 3 of those were also adopted out, but plenty of pooches like this one are still looking for a home.

If you’ve got time to swing by today, the adoption fee is still being waived. And if you can’t, adoptions are only $20.17 between January 2nd and 5th.

Best wishes — and a round of applause! — to all those who took part in the “Clear the Shelter” campaign. Thanks to them, lots of fur babies will find happiness again.
