Sharon Cuneta shares details about past marriage to Gabby Concepcion
16 Feb – Following a fan's interest in knowing more about her past relationships, Sharon Cuneta recently left a comment on Facebook to address several rumours that had been surrounding her life all this time.
According to GMA, the actress, who used her personal handle, April Mondragon (taken from her first movie, "Dear Heart" with ex-husband Gabby Concepcion), shared that unlike past rumours, she didn't marry Concepcion because of a pregnancy.
"It was at the backstage of Araneta Coliseum in July of 1984 at the dress rehearsals for my two-night concert, 'Sharon Solo With the Boys.' He already had the rings and I almost fell down the stairs! We had a secret civil wedding ceremony a few days after," she said.
Cuneta said that she was happy upon finding out that she was pregnant soon after, as it meant that they didn't need to hide it anymore.
The actress revealed that her father went on a "hunger strike" upon receiving an anonymous message about the marriage, which is why they then decided to hold a church wedding. She also admitted that her mother was angry about the secret marriage.
In the same post, Cuneta also admitted in brief that a third party was one of the reasons why they ended the marriage.
