Sharon Cuneta admits asking for Gabby Concepcion

The actress says it was her idea to reunite with her ex-husband and former onscreen partner

30 Mar - Sharon Cuneta recently admitted that she was the one who suggested that Star Cinema pair her up with her ex-husband and former onscreen partner, Gabby Concepcion.

As reported on Sunstar, the actress, who is scheduled to reunite with Concepcion in a Star Cinema movie, shared that she was originally cast to star in a movie with a different leading man.

However, she later approached the top management and asked them if they could grant the fans' request to see her and Concepcion together again.

"I just want to be able to give the fans the same experience again. For me, I will do anything you want me to do," she said.

Cuneta said that she could have bigger hit with her other leading men like Richard Gomez, Robin Padilla or Aga Muhlach, but it was a reunion with Concepcion that the fans dreamed of the most.

"It's such a strong brand that is loved by Filipinos. That's all. I just want to indulge what they want because I know there's a whole generation that watched us and grew with us. It's both closure and a new beginning," she said.

The Cuneta-Concepcion love team was one of the beloved tandem in the 1980s. Among their hit movies include "Dear Heart" and "Una Kang Naging Akin".

The onscreen couple's romance turned real when they tied the knot in 1984, although they ended the marriage not ten years later.
