Sharifah Amani carefully selects her film projects

The actress doesn't want a bad project to harm her reputation.

Sharifah Amani is excited to be involved with "Pekak".

26 Aug – Malaysian actress Sharifah Amani has said that she is now more selective in picking her roles, as she will only work on a project if she feels that it is good for her.

Sharifah made the stand in order to protect her reputation as an actress who has been in the industry for a long time now.

"It's been 10 years since I've been in this industry, and I have played roles which I was first sceptical but later realised that they weren't worth it. We can't fool the audiences and as actors we have to have some integrity," she told Cinema Online at the premiere of her new film, "Pekak" which was held at mm2 Cineplex, eCurve recently.

Added the Best Actress winner of the 19th Malaysia Film Festival (FFM), she is of the opinion that the responsibility of an actor is to shape and add colour to the film industry, therefore, if one is involved in creating a piece of work that lacks quality, it will not in any way help the industry to grow.

Talking about her role in her upcoming film "Pekak", Sharifah said that she was drawn to playing the character Dara as the storyline of the film is very good and she is also a fan of director Khairul Azri.

Added the 30-year-old actress, the great cast lineup also made her excited to participate in the film.

"Pekak" also stars Zahiril Adzim, Amerul Affendi, Sharifah Sakinah, Iedil Putra and more.

Meanwhile, Sharifah has said that this October she would be in Tokyo for the premiere of her short film called, "Pigeon" at the Tokyo International Film Festival and then for the theatre production called "Nadira" by Jo Kukathas.
