16 Aug – Actress Shannon Lee is not amused by Quentin Tarantino's recent statement regarding the depiction of her father Bruce Lee in his new movie, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood".
As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who was asked to respond to Tarantino's recent interview in which he claimed that Bruce Lee "was kind of an arrogant guy", stated that the filmmaker could just "shut up" about it.
"That would be really nice. Or he could apologise, or he could say, 'I don't really know what Bruce Lee was like. I just wrote it for my movie. But that shouldn't be taken as how he really was'," she stated.
Tarantino recently made such statement at a press conference of the said movie held in Moscow, after being asked about Lee's comment in which the actress expressed frustration on the comical arrogant portrayal of her father in the movie (played by Mike Moh).
"The way [Bruce Lee] was talking, I didn't just make a lot of that up. I heard him say things like that, to that effect. If people are saying, 'Well, he never said he could beat up Muhammad Ali.' Well, yeah, he did. Not only did he say that, but his wife, Linda Lee, said that in her first biography I ever read. She absolutely said that," he said.
Lee also stated that one of the troubling things in his response was that, "On the one hand, he wants to put this forward as fact and, on the other hand, he wants to stay in fiction."
