Shannen Doherty is fighting stage four cancer - three years after she went into remission following a battle with breast cancer.
The Beverly Hills, 90210 actress had kept her diagnosis private for a year because she wanted to prove she was able to work, after appearing in the standalone season of the rebooted show, BH90210.
"I don't think that I've processed it," she said during an interview on U.S. TV show Good Morning America on Tuesday. "It's a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways. I definitely have days where I say, 'Why me?' And then I go, 'Well, why not me? Who else besides me deserves this?' None of us do."
The star went on to confess she only confided in a small group of people, which included co-star Brian Austin Green.
"I had moments of great anxiety where I thought, 'I can't really do this,' and Brian was the one person who - of that group of people that knew - that I told, like, pretty quickly and said, 'Here, this is what I'm dealing with," the 48-year-old explained. "So, prior to shooting he would always call me and say, 'Listen, you know, whatever happens, I have your back.' He would look at me and be like, 'We got this, kiddo'... So Brian helped me through a lot."
Admitting she's "petrified", Shannen added that she came forward with her diagnosis as it would be included in court documents relating to a lawsuit she is filing against insurance company State Farm, in relation to an alleged unpaid claim for damage to her home following the Woolsey fires in California back in 2018.
