Shamcey Supsup: We have a bigger chance winning Miss Universe abroad!

Former Miss Universe Philippines shares why it's better

23 May – Although many Filipinos would love to have the Miss Universe pageant be held in the country again, former Miss Universe Philippines Shamcey Supsup believes that the representative has a higher chance of winning if it's held abroad.

According to PEP, the television personality, who gave her opinion about the topic recently, shared that a pageant candidate is less stressful when she is competing outside her country.

"It's because you don't hear much about what's going on. When I was in Brazil, I can't always go online, so I don't know much about what's going on and what the people are saying. I was able to focus on the competition. There was no pressure about what people are saying online," she said.

Supsup also stated that a candidate rarely wins when the pageant is held in her own country.

"There is truth to what [former Miss Universe] Gloria Diaz said. You don't want people to say that there is favouritism," she added.

However, at the same time, Supsup said that there is no issue about holding the pageant in the Philippines, as Filipinos really enjoyed it when it was held in the country in January last year.
