'Sesame Place Sallie’ filmed cursing at Muslim woman she allegedly told to ‘go back to where you came from’
A trip to the Sesame Place water park in Langhorne, Penn. got violent, with one swimsuit-clad woman caught on camera cursing at other guests before grabbing the phone of the woman filming her tirade. She is also accused of telling that guest, who is a Muslim woman, “go back to where you came from.”
The heated exchange was shared on social media by the woman, named Zafirah, who filmed the incident. According to accounts posted by her cousin and another family member, the woman in the black swimsuit — whom they’ve dubbed “Sesame Place Sallie,” in a nod to the nicknames, including “Peppermint Patty,” that have cropped up in response to white people calling the police on minorities — was arguing with another guest and using “very foul language.” When Zafirah asked her to quiet down in front of the kids, the woman allegedly fired back, “B**** f*** you and go back to where you came from.”
While that exchange was not filmed, the woman can be seen angrily swearing and flipping the bird on camera shortly afterwards, by which time Zafirah had pulled out her phone to record the exchange. Though Zafirah shared on her Instagram Stories that the woman didn’t actually physically assault her, the family claims she did try to knock the phone out of her hand. The woman can be seen lunging at Zafirah, causing people to rush in and break up the scuffle as children cry in the background.
The woman was asked to leave the park, but both of Zafirah’s cousins insist that Sesame Place staffers treated them “as the aggressors.” One lamented the amusement park’s reputation as the world’s first theme park to be designated a certified autism center, writing, “Why would you even want someone that holds this kind of negativity and hate around children? Especially those with disabilities ... “
In a statement to Yahoo Lifestyle, Sesame Place decried the guest’s behavior and confirmed that she was asked to leave the park. The statement refuted the family’s claim that the woman was given tickets to return to the park on another date and noted that she has been banned.
“Sesame Place only welcomes respect for others and does not tolerate this type of behavior,” the statement read. “The guest depicted in that video was promptly removed from the park and will not be permitted to return. Creating safe and enjoyable experiences for all guests is our top priority. Furthermore, the guest in the video did not receive tickets to return.”
