Serena Williams wants to branch out into high-fashion with a luxury capsule collection.
The tennis ace launched her size-inclusive womenswear line, S by Serena, in 2018, and recently presented her latest collection at New York Fashion Week.
Serena, who studied fashion design at college, told Anna Wintour during a Q&A after her show that while she still wants to please her loyal fans, she's not ruling out dabbling in a luxury line.
But rather than releasing pricier pieces as a separate collection, the 38-year-old is considering including a limited-edition capsule within her S by Serena line.
"I would love to do luxury, but I feel like I also want to be true and authentic to people that support the brand for years," she explained. "And so, if we do a luxury capsule, it'll be really small one day in the future. But I love the idea of see now, buy now, and really do it in a good way."
Elsewhere in the interview, Serena told the U.S. Vogue editor-in-chief that she's trying to embrace sustainability by using vegan leather and other eco-friendly materials, while maintaining her glam aesthetic.
"We experimented with different animal prints; we focused on giraffe. And then we focused on the sustainability aspect of having vegan leather," she explained. "And so that's kind of what we wanted to focus on and just build from there."
