Selena Lee knew she would not win Best Actress

16 Jan – Selena Lee recently admitted that she is not at all saddened by her Best Actress loss at the TVB Anniversary Awards.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who was a favourite to win - especially since she never won any awards with TVB throughout her career with the company - stated that she knew her chance was small as she was facing stiff competition.

"Although I have waited for my chance for 16 to 17 years, the moment that the announcement was made, I was very calm. I would have been stunned before, but I know who my opponents are. When I saw them there, I already know the result," she said.

Selena was facing competition not only from past winner Ali Lee and StarHub Night of Stars' Best Actress winner Natalie Tong, she was also facing the likes of the multiple award-winning thespian Kara Hui and top film star Miriam Yeung.

"Both Kara and Miriam are film stars. I have also seen Kara's work. She deserves to win," she added.

Kara was named Best Actress at the event for her performance in "The Defected", while Miriam shared the Most Popular Female Character award with Selena through her first TVB series, "Wonder Women".
