Selena Gomez Debuts a New, Very Personal Collarbone Tattoo
Selena Gomez did more than wrap upcoming Hulu series Only Murders in the Building this week in New York City; she got a new, very personal tattoo. Gomez had a thin cross inked on her collarbone. Bang Bang Tattoo posted a video of the final result, featuring Gomez pulling her mask down and smiling as she took it in:
Gomez spoke to Vogue for its April 2021 issue about her Christian faith and how she is more spiritual than religious. She said, “I’m very, very spiritual. I believe in God, but I’m not religious. I’ve been a Christian for a while now. I don’t talk about it too much—I want to, but it’s gotten a bad rep. I just want to make it clear that I love being able to have my faith, and believe in what I believe in, and that truly is what gets me through.”
Gomez said she felt closest to God when she was sickest: “You don’t necessarily even need to believe to know that there’s something above you that’s bigger than you,” she said. ”You’re throwing your hands up, going, ‘I actually have no idea what is next.’ ”
Gomez has another symbolic tattoo, a four, on her arm. Gomez and her three best friends had matching ones done in 2018. Gomez shared photos of the experience on her Instagram and wrote about the tattoo's meaning.
“#4 because these women have stayed by my side for 7 years (@ashley_cook 12 years) 4, because you are my 4 for the rest of my life,” Gomez wrote. “I love you ladies. You all inspire me to be better, stronger, closer to god and we have lived the most INSANE story together already. Can’t wait for 50 more!! Ps @raquellestevens had an actual panic attack 🙄 it’s a dot! 🤦🏽♀️”
