See Superheroes and Stormtroopers Reimagined as 17th Century Aristocrats
“As science fiction meets history of art, time meets an inexhaustible desire for mythology which is within each of us.” So writes photographer and artist Sacha Goldberger in the introduction to his Super Flemish series of Hollywood heroes and villains photographed in the style of 17th century aristocrats. To which we would then add, “And besides, the Hulk looks surprisingly elegant in ruffled collar.”
The collection, which includes 39 pieces in all, was recently unveiled at an exhibition at School Gallery Paris. While the bulk of the characters featured are from the Marvel (Captain America, Iron Man) and Star Wars (Darth Vader, Yoda, and Leia among others) universes, DC Comics (Batman and Robin) and Disney (Cinderella and Snow White) also get some love. Goldberger basically reimagines all the biggest players in the action-fantasy realm. Could we suggest a hobbit or two for the second edition?
