See How Poe Dameron Escaped Jakku Thanks to New 'Lego Force Awakens' Game Level

Poe Dameron was supposed to die. If it wasn’t for the pleading of star Oscar Isaac, the heroic Resistance pilot’s story could have ended when his purloined TIE fighter slammed into Jakku. But Isaac swayed director J.J. Abrams and wound up creating one of the breakout characters of The Force Awakens, one whose popularity has extended to books, comics, fanfic, and video games.

In “Poe’s Quest for Survival,” the newly released chapter for the Lego Force Awakens video game available for download today for season pass-holders, gamers will be able to play Poe’s story as filtered through the comic sensibility of the Lego Star Wars franchise. (Watch the trailer above.)

The plot expands upon the novelization of The Force Awakens, which revealed that Poe was thrown from the TIE wreckage away from Finn. After rousing from a concussion, Poe came upon a scavenger named Naka Iit (from the trunk-sporting Blarina species) and hitches a ride in his speeder to a port called Blowback Town, where a fellow Blarina named Ohn Gos could arrange transport off-planet. Along the way, they get ambushed by the ruthless Strus Clan, forcing Poe to save his new pal. The Lego game offers our first look at Naka Iit, Ohn Gos, the Strus Clan, the characters’ various vehicles, and Blowback Town.
