The second edition of the MICHELIN guide Singapore will be revealed on 29 June at the Fullerton Hotel, according to a press release on Wednesday (23 May).

The guide offers a selection of handpicked recommendations that a city’s culinary scene has to offer. MICHELIN deploys a team of inspectors to visit restaurants and hawker centers islandwide before selecting and rewarding them with one-, two- or three-star ratings.

Separately, the guide also contains the Bib Gourmand list, which features delicious food places that are value for money.

This is the second time that the prestigious culinary award will be unveiling its top dining picks of Singapore’s restaurants and hawker stalls.

A total of 29 Singapore restaurants and hawker stalls were awarded MICHELIN-star ratings last year. It was the first time that MICHELIN had awarded ratings to Singaporean hawkers Chan Hon Meng from Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle and Tang Chan Seng from Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle.

The MICHELIN guide also placed Singapore on the global gastronomy map by featuring the cheapest MICHELIN-starred dish, by Chan Hon Meng, priced from $2 for a plate of Soya Sauce Chicken Rice.

Those interested in the guide can pre-order at $39.95 each, before 22 June.

The MICHELIN guide Singapore 2017 Star Event will feature a five-course dinner menu prepared by local and overseas Michelin-starred chefs. They are, Terra’s Chef Seita Nakahara (one-star), Corner House’s Chef Jason Tan (one-star), Jade Dragon’s Chef Tam Kwok Fung (two-star) and Grace’s Chef Curtis Duffy (three-star). Fung is from Macau while Duffy is from Chicago, USA.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Classic” and attendees can expect to feast on unique flavours from the East and West.

Tickets to the MICHELIN guide Singapore 2017 Star Event are priced from $595 per seat and can be purchased via the website.
