Everything We Know About Season 5 of 'Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce'
Bravo's Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce is back on Thursday, June 14 at 10 p.m. EST for its fifth and final season. But before you settle in with your popcorn to catch up with Abby and Jake, here's everything you need to know about the upcoming episodes.
1. The fifth season will be unlike the rest.
We're as bummed as you are that Bravo's first scripted series is ending. The premiere of the final season is Thursday, June 14 at 10 p.m. EST and, according to a very reliable source, this season will be worth tuning in for: "We get to some seriously core issues this season so that we can end our show with a satisfying feeling of both finality and possibility," Lisa Edelstein, who stars as Abby, tells RedbookMag.com.
2. The trailer promises lots of drama.
Drama with a capital "D," that is. Not only will Abby ask Mike to move in with her in the very first episode, but you'll also get to watch her close-knit friends experience their own bumps in the road as they navigate their romantic lives.
3. Lisa Edelstine directed one of the episodes.
"It was pretty wonderful to finally get to tell everyone what I think they should do!" Lisa says - followed by a reassurance that she's only kidding. "What is true is that I loved tinkering with the performances of these incredibly talented people and I can't wait to see it on the air!" Stay tuned to find out which of the six episodes in the season was spearheaded by Lisa.
4. Redbook will make a cameo.
No, seriously. Abby and Mike attend a Redbook event together and it's something you do not want to miss. Watch this clip from the episode for a sneak peek.
5. The cast is super sad it's ending.
Well, we're right there with you guys. "I loved every second of this job from the moment I was cast until the final toast in the final shot of the final episode. It has truly been a creative gold mine for me," Lisa says. "It's not every job that feels this good to go to in the morning and feels just as good when you wrap for the day. I miss the whole bunch."
6. But they've got exciting projects in the works.
Lisa, for one, wrote, directed, and acted in a short film called Unzipping, which premieres this summer at the LA Shorts Fest. She also co-wrote a pilot for Universal Cable Productions (UCP) with Carol Barbee named Confessions of a Sociopath. Plus, she just finished shooting two independent films.
As for Paul Adelstein, who plays Jake, he recently worked on another Bravo scripted show, Imposters, and is set to be on a new comedy called I Feel Bad on NBC. So even though you won't be able to watch Abby and Jake banter back and forth after the final episode, you'll still be able to watch your favorite stars on the small screen.
