SDCC 2017: A new Defenders trailer from Netflix

At risk of counting our chickens before they hatch – and we all know how Iron Fist turned out – the new Defenders trailer that Netflix unleashed in Hall H at Comic Con earlier today looks very, very promising.

We get our first look of Sigourney Weaver’s villain declaring a lot of sinister things about war, fighting and the end. She’s being pitted directly against Madame Gao (Ho Wai Ching) in what looks to be a turf war fought on the streets of Manhattan, and we also see the return of Elektra (Élodie Yung) and Stick (Scott Glenn).

But in between all of that, we finally get to see what the dynamic between the Defenders is like, and it’s not an entirely harmonious one. But then again, I wouldn’t expect it to be all rainbows and unicorns whenever Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand (Finn Jones) are involved.

Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb was on hand to moderate the panel, where they also confirmed Daredevil Season 3 (YAY!) and Iron Fist Season 2 (Really? Ugh.). But the best part was definitely Jon Bernthal dropping by in an unannounced appearance to talk about the Punisher series.

Netflix also released a second clip with additional footage, featuring none other than Stan Lee himself talking about what it means to be The Defenders. The best part, of course, comes at the end when someone else other than Elektra comes back.

The Defenders will premiere on Netflix on August 18. Check out the first Defenders trailer that was released back in May.
