Just give us a minute to calm down. Oooh, ok. This is real. This is happening. According to ElleUK, one lucky soul will win a date with Titanic’s Jack Dawson – wait, no sorry – Leonardo DiCaprio. All one must do to participate in the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is donate $6 and fly to Edinburgh. Easy. We want in. Bring on the DiCaprio.
As if boozing and schmoozing with Leo isn’t enough, the prize winner will also receive an overnight stay and dinner for two at The George Hotel, Edinburgh’s “pinnacle of luxury hotels,” as the website states. The winner will also gain free travel throughout Scotland via ScotRail, and last but not least, a £1,000 Champagne and shopping experience at ROX, George Street.
So what is this all about? What’s the catch? Is there a marriage ceremony involved?

Well, for starters, this raffle listing is up on itison.com, a similar site to our Groupon, but lists strictly deals in Edinburgh. The $6 (or £5 if you are already across the pond) goes to feeding the homeless at Edinburgh’s Home restaurant. Home has teamed up with Social Bite, a sandwich shop that donates 100% of their proceeds to a good cause, and employs the former homeless, to ensure that each donation goes towards a hot meal and drink for someone in need.
This means, there’s no catch. Last year the Social Bite fundraiser pulled in over £400,000, allowing the shop to feed the Scottish homeless for an entire year. The team encourages the public to donate several times to this year’s raffle so they can outdo last year’s numbers. Each time you donate, you earn yourself an extra entry to wine and dine with your ~ one tru luv ~.

Joining you on your DiCaprio date will be Sir Tom Hunter, Chairman of the Scottish Business Awards. Leo is the Business Awards’ keynote speaker this year, hence his involvement. So yes, you’ll have a third wheel. But Sir Tom Hunter would make an excellent witness to your possible elopement to Leo (just a thought).
