Research has revealed the age at which you should have your life sorted.

While many of us might have an idea about when expect to be a proper grown up with our career, love and social lives all sorted, a study has pinpointed the exact age we should have everything in place.

The study quizzed 2,000 adults to find out when we should have the different aspects of our lives settled.

According to the research, by the time they approach 39 the average Brit should have their career, love life, and social relationships all in order.

However some things need to be sorted a bit earlier, with the study suggesting that by 29 we should have a secure group of friends, and by 31 we should have met and fallen in love with ‘the one’.

Sorry, 31-plus singletons.

Those 40 and over who don’t feel like they have things together shouldn’t despair, however, as the survey bods point out these are ‘shoulds’ not ‘musts’.

Of those surveyed, 44% said they didn’t think they’d ever have their lives completely sorted, with a quarter admitting to their love life being disastrous.

While almost three quarters said they spend more time thinking about trying to sort their lives than actually sorting their lives.

For 16% of adults it’s their career that’s providing the biggest stumbling block.

A further 16% polled by Beagle Street Life Insurance said they aren’t going to sweat the life sorting stuff and 14% of 18- to 29-year-olds said they were too young to worry about grown up woes choosing instead to focus on the here and now.

And if you’re feeling the pressure of every day life, you’re totally with the majority with 78% of the adults surveyed struggling to stay on top of their life admin.

So, while it is good to have a scientific marker we can keep in mind, it’s really not worth stressing if we get to 39 and we’re still a bit of a hot mess. Because, you know, life.
