‘Schitt’s Creek’ Mansion on Sale for $17.7 Million (Photo)

The Toronto mansion that the Rose family of “Schitt’s Creek” called home before their financial downfall has been listed for $17.7 million (or $21.88 million in Canadian currency).

The “La Belle Maison” chateau, as the property is known, is located in St. Andrew-Windfields, one of Toronto’s wealthiest neighborhoods. Boasting 12 beds and 16 bathrooms, the three-story mansion is surrounded by landscaped gardens, a saltwater swimming pool and a heated driveway with space for up to 14 cars. Inside, the luxurious amenities include a wine cellar, aquarium, full-service elevator, indoor pool, billiards room and home theater.

Designer Van Lapoyan was reportedly inspired by the Palace of Versailles when he began construction on the estate in 2012.

His attorney Robert Freedman told CNBC that the La Belle Maison has made two appearances in “Schitt’s Creek,” in the debut episode and in a flashback sequence in a Season 5 episode.

The megamansion is a fitting backdrop for the Rose family at the beginning of their story, when patriarch Johnny Rose (Eugene Levy) owns a video store empire and his wife, Moira (Catherine O’Hara) is a daytime soap star. When they lose everything, they are forced out of their lavish lifestyle and into the tiny town of Schitt’s Creek, which they once bought as a joke.

The Pop TV series ran for six seasons, picking up nine Emmy awards – including “Outstanding Comedy Series” and all four comedy acting trophies – after its final season. The father-and-son duo Dan and Eugene Levy created the show and starred as father and son, alongside O’Hara as mother Moira and Annie Murphy as sister Alexis.

La Belle Maison first hit the market in February with a price tag of $11.8 million before being relisted the following month for almost $16 million. Now, real estate agents are asking for an even higher price. Let the bidding begin!
