Savannah Guthrie Compares Trump to a "Crazy Uncle" for Sharing Conspiracy Theories, and His Niece Agrees
Savannah Guthrie from Today was quick to press President Donald Trump on Thursday night during his solo town hall. After he dismissed spreading a conspiracy theory about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden as a mere retweet (on a platform in which he has over 87 million followers), Guthrie shot back, "I don't get that. You’re the president! You’re not like someone’s crazy uncle who can just retweet whatever!"
The president's niece Mary Trump, who recently wrote a tell-all book about her uncle, had to chime in. "Actually...," she tweeted.

From calling out Trump's lack of evidence for widespread voter fraud to the president condescendingly calling the moderator "so cute," Guthrie remained firm in challenging his rhetoric.
The solo town hall (which occurred at the same time as Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's separate town hall) follows the dissolution of the second presidential debate after an agreement could not be made over the event's format and timing.
At first, the Commission on Presidential Debates said that the second debate would be changed from the in-person format to a virtual town meeting with both candidates participating from remote locations—an adjustment made because of the COVID-19 outbreak in the White House.
The president and First Lady Melania Trump both tested positive for the coronavirus on October 1. Since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that individuals exposed to COVID-19 quarantine for at least 14 days, the commission offered the virtual debate as a solution.
While Biden and Trump may not have quarreled tonight, Guthrie nonetheless proved to be a worthy competitor. Scroll on to see how Twitter reacted.

It's looking like Donald Trump maybe should have just let Joe Biden have his night.
