Sarah Ferguson has revealed the important message she was given from the late Queen which she always observes when talking about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

“When anyone asks me about Harry, or anything else, I say let’s just look at kindness,” the 63-year-old explained.

“One of the Queen's messages was that there should be more kindness, because it definitely diffuses malice. It disarms malice. And I think we really need to have less judgement.”

Speaking to Holly Willoughby and comedian Joel Dommett on ITV’s This Morning, Ferguson added that she thinks there is “too much unkindness”.

“I think social media is a sewer, and I think cyber bullying has got to go,” she continued.

The Duchess of York also praised the American people when asked about how she thinks the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are getting on in America.

“I think the Americans give people second chances,” she explained. “I wish Harry, Meghan and the family the best of luck there. It is extraordinary how welcoming the Americans are.”

Fergie may not be present at King Charles III’s coronation in May, however, as the duchess hinted that she wasn’t invited. “I’m going to have the bunting out somewhere,” she laughed when asked about the event.

Discussing her ex-husband’s recent difficulties, Ferguson said: “We are a family unit. My girls stand for service, they have very, very hard jobs, and they’re mothers, and they’re public figures, and they do charity work. They’re extraordinary examples of the King’s service, which is what their grandmother taught them, and I taught them the humility.

“I think the York family as a unit, symbolises no judgement, kindness, and moving forward to make people sit up and go ‘stop’. Stop always believing what you read, stop this, stop that. Walk forward as a unit and remain steadfast to that. Remember I’ve been through difficult times, and he’s [Andrew’s] always stood by me. You can’t have it both ways. I’ve always said that.”
