Sammy Shum excited for TVB comeback

1 Apr - After four years of leaving TVB, Sammy Shum recently make his comeback with the company with his new costume drama, "Smiling Across the Mortal World".

As reported on Mingpao, the actor who spoke to the media on the set of the new series, shared that it took him a while to get used to the filming schedules again, especially the early morning calls.

"I think the worst part is that I have moved to Yuen Long since leaving TVB to ease my work in mainland China, so that means I now have to commute for an hour to Tseung Kwan O for filming," he said.

When it comes to filming challenges, Sammy said that he has to play a character skilled in martial arts, which means that he has to work hard to make it believable.

"When they offered me a role in a costume drama, I was happy because I had only done one series of that genre throughout my time with TVB. This is also my first collaboration with Edwin Siu and Roxanne Tong and I am looking forward to it," he said.

When asked if this means he will be filming more TVB series in the future, Sammy said that this project came at the right time as a lot of mainland series have halted filming due to COVID-19.
