Sammy Leung hopes parents can finally disembark cruise ship

19 Feb – After being stranded for a while on board the Princess Diamond cruise ship docked at Yokohama, Sammy Leung said that his parents are finally being arranged for a Coronavirus test.

As reported on Mingpao, the TV and radio personality who previously revealed that his parents were among the thousands of passengers on the cruise ship who were quarantined since a week ago, said that the two of them finally had their saliva taken for testing and that they may be able to leave the ship as soon as possible if the results are negative.

"My parents are currently doing okay and are showing no symptoms, and by next week, they would complete the 14-day quarantine period," he said.

However, Sammy stated that he and the rest of the family are still worried that their parents may be required to be quarantined again as they arrive in Hong Kong. It was previously reported that the Hong Kong Security Bureau is arranging carter flights to bring passengers back to Hong Kong.

"We're concerned that they will have to isolate themselves again and that may take its toll on their physical and mental health," he said.

Over 3,600 people have been stuck on the cruise ship since 4 February, after dozens of people on board tested positive for Covid-19.
