Sammi Cheng thankful for two HKFA Best Actress nominations

17 Feb – Sammi Cheng recently took to social media to express her thoughts about being nominated for Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards for two of her upcoming movies.

The actress shared a photo of herself from the two movies she was nominated in - "Fagara" and "Fatal Visit", and wrote, "I feel like I have used the term "a normal heart" too many times when answering the question "how do I feel about being nominated?". Aside from these three words, the feelings are more complex and I don't know how to express them."

"I just saw a lyric yesterday, and it expresses exactly how I feel about the Best Actress nomination: "Dream is terrible, it seems impossible to climb". Really, there was such a moment where "People will lose even the dream and courage to think about it". However, in the past 20 years, what I hoped was to achieve a transformation in performance and I am thankful that I finally encountered these two roles," she continued.

Sammi added that no matter what the outcome may be, she believes that "an ordinary mind" is still the most beautiful state of mind.

"Regardless of the result, I am appreciative of the teams from these two films. And thank you all who have been with me through all my nominations," she added.

In addition to the two Best Actress nominations, Sammi is also competing in the Best Original Song category for "Say It Properly", the theme for "Fagara".

Other actresses who are also nominated in the Best Actress category are Stephy Tang ("My Prince Edward"), Zhou Dongyu ("Better Days"), and Cecilia Choi ("Beyond the Dreams").

Sammi has never once won Best Actress from the said awards ceremony, after being nominated time and time again for her performances in movies like "Everlasting Regret", "Needing You...", "Wu Yen" and "Blind Detective".
