13 Sep – Although she has been starring in more dramatic roles this year, Sammi Cheng stated that she no longer thinks about winning awards with her performance.
As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who sat down for an interview to promote her new movie, "Fagara", stated that being nominated in film awards was like a lesson in defeat.
"I think that the best thing is to play the role as best as you can and try to better yourself. Rather than winning awards, I will focus on whether I have improved or not," she said.
Asked if she still has any confidence in her chance in winning Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards next year, Sammi responded simply that she has none.
"I have made four movies. So far, only one has been released and I don't know the release dates of the three other films," she said.
The actress added that her journey in acting is more treacherous than her music career, but that she is willing to continue her efforts as long as she is given a good role to play.
