Salma Hayek's New Gown Has a Plunging Neckline and Nearly 2 Million Sequins
Salma Hayek proved her fashion prowess with her latest look at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. To attend the Kering Women in Motion Awards ceremony this past weekend, Salma opted for a glamorous ensemble, courtesy of Gucci and Balenciaga. She shared a behind-the-scenes look at her outfit with fans on Instagram today.
Her glittering Balenciaga gown featured structured shoulder pads, ruffled trim, a black velvet belt tied into a bow at the waist, a plunging neckline, and nearly two million embroidered black sequins.
She upped the ante with her jewelry, wearing a Gucci necklace comprised of a diamond chain and a giant blue gemstone pendant. She accessorized with even more diamond jewelry, including stud earrings and chunky rings, then topped the look off with sky-high platform heels in black.
In the Instagram caption, Salma thanked her team for their help in curating her complete look.
“So much work goes into the Cannes Film Festival, from my friend @gregwilliamsphotography whos been photographing me since my first Cannes experience, or my girls from hair and make-up @jennifer_yepez & @sofiatilbury who you could only appreciate their artistry if you had seen me when I woke up that day,” she wrote.
She added that, though she wore the dazzling Gucci necklace for the behind-the-scenes photos, she decided to opt out of wearing the bling during the actual event. “The @gucci team... brought me this stunning necklace that I chose just to learn that I wanted to save it for another occasion,” she continued. She also nodded to Balenciaga for their work on her dress, saying it took, “270 hours of hand sewing, 1,976,000 black sequins, and 2769 hours of hand embroidery ... to make my 15kg @balenciaga dress.”
This past weekend, Salma also attended the Cannes premiere of Killers of the Flower Moon, where she looked gorgeous in a deep plum Alexander McQueen gown and even more Gucci High Jewelry.
