Saint Laurent serves up '80s-inspired power suits for fall 20

Model at Saint Laurent show

Saint Laurent has dished up a line of '80s-inspired power suits for fall/winter 2020.

Creative director Anthony Vaccarello unveiled his latest collection at the Fontaine du Trocadero as part of Paris Fashion Week late on Tuesday night, with the likes of Hailey Bieber, Kit Harington, Brooklyn Beckham, Joe Keery, Maika Monroe, Lily Collins, Ana de Armas, Rami Malek, and Zoe Kravitz all perched on the front row.

Explaining his influences for the range, Vaccarello commented in his show notes that he was interested in subverting convention by combining traditionally feminine silhouettes with racier fabrics.

"Between gilded salons and nocturnal places inhabited by well-mannered girls and bad boys, the Saint Laurent woman loves to take risks, she wears lace and cashmere with Latex," he commented.

With the Eiffel Tower in the background, the presentation opened with a model walking the runway in a red and black plaid jacket, matching pussy bow blouse, black Latex leggings, and large black and gold stud earrings.

Vaccarello then offered up a parade of super sexy outfits, with one model sporting a halterneck top made of Latex with black velvet trousers and thigh-high boots, and another outfitted in a black leather corset and long coat.

And despite building up a reputation for using black and muted shades, Vaccarello used his new collection to experiment with colour.

Partway through the spectacle, models showed off skin-tight trousers made from purple, magenta, and red Latex, while he also dropped a line-up of outfits utilising eye-catching combinations, such as a bold red jacket matched with a pink top and purple leggings, or a mustard yellow jacket paired with purple tights.

To conclude, the designer served up a range of eveningwear pieces, like a red sequin dress with pussy bow neckline and black velvet dress with plunging neckline.
