Let’s be honest, condoms are never going to be particularly sexy but Saint Laurent hopes to inspire the fashion set to have safe sex after launching its own line of chic rubbers.

There are seven designs in total which range from bang-on-trend leopard print (pardon the pun) and romantic hearts to monochrome checks.

Each wrapper weighs in at £5 but are only available to shop in the brand’s luxury Parisian concept store, Rive Droite - a trek for those hoping to get lucky this weekend.

The surprising launch coincides with an apt campaign by Juergen Teller dubbed ‘The Love Affair’ which creative director Anthony Vaccarello teased via Instagram.

The launch was spotted by Twitter user @balenciogre who shared screenshots of the condoms via the online platform alongside the caption: “Why am I so tempted to buy these YSL condoms when I’m not even going to use them, I just want to collect them for the sake of fashion lmao.”

The tweet soon garnered over 24,200 likes with fellow social media users offering their opinion on the product.

“That’s the level of extra I aspire to,” one Twitter user wrote.

Another added, “Just imagine your man saying he bought you some YSL and he pulls this out.”

“For £5, I’d hope they work,” a third joked.

Although it’s not the first time a designer brand has introduced luxury condoms to the fashion world.

Back in 2017, Alexander Wang teamed up with Trojan condoms to encourage New York Pride-goers to have safe sex alongside the incredible tagline ‘#ProtectYourWang’.

Most recently, the fashion world’s biggest stars were invited to the Vetements SS20 show with glossy black condoms emblazoned with the name of the French power label.

So whether you’re hoping to impress a Tinder date on Friday night or just feel like upgrading your underwear drawer for the hell of it, you can take a look at the designs up for grabs on the Saint Laurent website.
