Ryan Reynolds to star in a Netflix movie penned by "Deadpool" writers

Ryan Reynolds reteams with "Deadpool" writers for the Michael Bay-helmed Netflix movie.

23 May – This is going to be one explosive team up. Ryan Reynolds is working on a Netflix movie and it has some pretty impressive crew behind it.

Reynolds will be starring in "Six Underground", an action movie Netflix is working on with Skydance Media, according to Deadline.

The script is penned by "Deadpool" screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese while Michael Bay will assume directing role.

Bay's involvement in the movie was first revealed in March when he and Skydance announced their intention to work on a movie together, which will start a new franchise.

With a budget within the USD150 million range to kick off the action-packed franchise, production on the movie is set to begin this summer.

There are no details yet regarding Reynolds' role in the movie but he's definitely in good hands since he's most recently worked with the Wernick-Reese pair for "Deadpool 2", which has now made USD312 million worldwide against its USD110 million budget.

"Six Underground" is slated for release in 2019.

Last year, Netflix dipped its toe into the franchise pool with the Will Smith and Joel Egerton-starrer, "Bright". Despite being panned, the fantasy crime movie still garnered more than enough fans to warrant a sequel that started filming this year.
