Gin-peddler and occasional actor Ryan Reynolds has been up to his usual tricks on social media, this time taking aim at the Queen’s rival gin brand.

The Deadpool star, who is the owner of the Aviation Gin brand, shared a picture of a “pre-order” for a bottle of the Buckingham Palace Small Batch Dry gin that went on sale this week and sold out within hours of its launch.

Reynold’s billing address is “1 Upmanship Much Dr, Not Coolington, WTF FML” while the shipping address is listed as “Sir Paul McCartney, 221B Baker Street, Downton Abbey Rd, 1D4 LYF”.

The joke receipt with the order number of “#2CH33KY” – shared to the Canadian star’s 35.9 million followers – was accompanied by the caption “pre-ordered”.

Reynolds has been the owner and creative director of Aviation Gin since 2018.

The new Buckingham Palace gin, made from ingredients taken from the garden of the Queen’s London home, has already sold out online. The Royal Collection Trust’s premium small-batch London dry gin was snapped up by fans of the spirit within eight hours of its launch.

The £40 bottle of gin will also be available to buy at Royal Collection shops next week when Windsor Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace, and the Queen’s Galleries in London and Edinburgh reopen to the public on 23 July.

Profits from the gin’s sale are a boost to the trust as it faces financial difficulties amid the “greatest challenge” in its history.

Infused with citrus and herbal notes, the 42% ABV 70cl gin is derived from 12 botanicals, several of which are collected from the Buckingham Palace garden, including lemon verbena, hawthorn berries, bay leaves and mulberry leaves.

It will also be served at future official events at the palace.
