On June 17, 2011, Green Lantern was released in the United States, and pretty much every day since then its leading star Ryan Reynolds has made fun of it.

Not only has Reynolds repeatedly made quips about the critical and financial bomb in interviews, but he has even made jokes about it in Deadpool and Deadpool 2, too. Reynolds clearly has no plans to put these jokes to bed, as the first tease for his new movie Free Guy once again sees the actor taking aim at Green Lantern.

But this time around it isn’t just Reynolds that chastises the film as Free Guy also features Taika Waititi, who just so happened to co-star in the maligned movie with Reynolds, too.

You can check out Reynolds, Waititi and their co-stars Joe Keery and Jodie Comer making fun of Green Lantern, while also teasing Free Guy, in the clip below.

While it might not be quite as brutal as Deadpool using time travel to kill Reynolds as he considers starring in Green Lantern at the end of Deadpool 2, the above is yet further proof of just how funny Reynolds and Waititi are and why we should be excited for Free Guy.

The above clip doesn’t actually reveal that much about Free Guy, though. Luckily, director Shawn Levy did just that at New York Comic-Con on Thursday.

"On a very literal level, Free Guy is about Guy, who's a bank teller. He works in a bank, and his bank gets robbed 17 times in a day, and eventually he realizes that's weird and not normal,” Levy told a packed panel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Guy soon learns that he is actually a background character in an open world video game called Free City, which is about to go offline in the very near future. That’s pretty much all we know for now, although during the panel the first poster for Free Guy was also released, which you can take a look at below.
