Rupert Grint has revealed he’d potentially be open to returning to the world of Harry Potter at some point in the future.

The 32-year-old spoke to ComicBook.com while promoting his role in the Apple TV+ series Servant and was asked whether he’d consider heading back to JK Rowling’s wizarding world.

"I don't know. I mean, never say never," he said. "I would never say 'absolutely no’.”

Grint added: “It was a huge part of my life and I'm very fond of that character and their stories.

“So yeah, I mean, I'd be up for it at the right time. I don't know what capacity that would be, but yeah, we'll see."

It has been nine years since Grint said goodbye to the role of Ron Weasley in the wake of climactic movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part Two.

Since then, all of the central cast members have repeatedly been asked whether they would return to their roles if called upon.

JK Rowling has expanded the series in numerous directions, stretching back in time for the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie franchise and into the characters’ futures for two-part stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Draco Malfoy actor Tom Felton said last year that he thinks it’s unlikely the original cast will be asked to return for a Cursed Child movie.

Daniel Radcliffe, meanwhile, believes the series will eventually be rebooted in some form and that there will be plenty more Harry Potter actors ahead of him.

Next year marks the 20th anniversary of the first Harry Potter film, which was finally able to cross the billion-dollar barrier at the global box office in 2020 after it was re-released into cinemas starved of new blockbusters.

Filming on the delayed third Fantastic Beasts movie began in the autumn following coronavirus setbacks and the need to recast Johnny Depp with Mads Mikkelsen as villain Grindelwald.

Grint, meanwhile, can be seen again in M. Night Shyamalan series Servant as Julian — brother of Lauren Ambrose’s lead character, Dorothy.

He helps Dorothy and her husband Sean (Toby Kebbell) as they deal with their strange new nanny (Nell Tiger Free), hired to look after a “reborn doll” which mysteriously appears to become a real child.

The second season of Servant will stream on Apple TV+ from 15 January 2021.
