Popular South Korean variety show ‘Running Man’ is no longer cancelled and will continue to air with all of the show’s six members, according to a statement by Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) on Tuesday (24 Jan).

Based on translations of the statement by Koreaboo, the network has decided to continue the series “due to the overwhelming sadness of fans in and outside of Korea”.

The statement also said SBS Chief of Headquarters Nam Seung Yong had apologised to the members over the incidents that have happened during the re-formatting of the show, and that all six members agreed to stay.

“I sincerely thank the Running Man members who made the difficult decision to stay on the show, and in order to repay the fans who loved and supported Running Man for the last seven years, we will do our best to make Running Man even more enjoyable than it has been,” said Nam.

In December, SBS announced the cancellation in the midst of controversies surrounding the changes planned for the show, which included adding television host and comedian Kong Ho-dong to the cast in January.

After an emergency meeting was called to address misunderstandings within the cast and production team, reports of actress Song Ji-hyo and singer Kin Jong-kook wanting to leave emerged.

The final episode was originally slated for February.
