England Rugby fans delighted as Prince Harry makes surprise video appearance
Rugby fans have shared their delight as Prince Harry made a surprise appearance in a video which shows how the sport has coped during the coronavirus pandemic.
Prince Harry, 35, popped up in the video saying “we all miss rugby” before players including Jonny Wilkinson named training, playing and supporting as things they were missing.
Owen Farrell said: “This pandemic might have paused the game...” as Harry finished the sentence with: “but it hasn’t taken away our spirit”.
The video was put together to thank rugby fans and players for the work they have been doing during the pandemic, and featured teams who have transformed their clubhouses to support their communities.
Fans appreciated the appearance from their prince, with fans writing: “ I love that Prince Harry is in it too!”
Another added: “Awesome video, so happy you all put Harry in it.”
On Twitter plenty of fans reacted to the royal’s appearance with heart emojis and comments on the prince looking “handsome and relaxed”.
England Rugby shared the video with the caption: “When the game was paused, the rugby family came together as one. Thank you from all of us at England Rugby.”
It also featured archival footage of the duke, who is a patron of England Rugby, at events during his time as a senior royal.
It comes as Harry backed a review by the RFU into fan favourite song ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’, which has connections with slavery.
Harry said he would support whatever decision the organisation came to over its use. It’s likely to be discouraged, though a ban on the song would be difficult to enforce.

Harry and Meghan have been volunteering with a charity in Los Angeles, their new home, in the last week.
The couple spent time making meal packages and pastries with Homeboy Industries, which works with former gang members and prisoners in California, offering them legal advice, mental health support and training.
They are launching a new non-profit organisation, which will be called Archewell, but have delayed it until 2021.
They recently faced teething problems with their application for a trademark on Archewell, as the form was too vague, not signed, and wasn’t submitted with the right fee payment.
