The royal wedding reception menu has been revealed and it sounds delicious

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot today at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

But the celebrations have only just begun, as the newlyweds will now toast their nuptials with an extravagant lunchtime reception.

Queen Elizabeth II is hosting the post-wedding gathering at St George’s Hall in Windsor Castle for the 600 guests who witnessed the history-making ceremony.

And we now know what the royals will be feasting upon thanks to a Kensington Palace (though we doubt that it’ll beat our afternoon tea).

Guests will be served approximately 7,500 items of food prepped by a team of 25 chefs led by Mark Flanagan.

To kick-start the party, a selection of canapés which include the following:

  • Scottish Langoustines wrapped in Smoked Salmon with Citrus Crème Fraiche

  • Grilled English Asparagus wrapped in Cumbrian Ham

  • Garden Pea Panna Cotta with Quail Eggs and Lemon Verbena

  • Heritage Tomato and Basil Tartare with Balsamic Pearls

  • Poached Free Range Chicken bound in a Lightly Spiced Yoghurt with Roasted Apricot

  • Croquette of Confit Windsor Lamb, Roasted Vegetables and Shallot Jam

  • Warm Asparagus Spears with Mozzarella and Sun-Blush Tomatoes

Guests can also enjoy the quintessentially upper class option of bowl food which includes fricassee of free range chicken with morel mushrooms and young leeks alongside pea and mint risotto served with pea shoots, truffle oil and parmesan crisps.

If that isn’t enough to satisfy Harry and Meghan’s hungry guests, the following sweet canapés will also be served:

  • Champagne and Pistachio Macaroons

  • Orange Crème Brûlée Tartlets

  • Miniature Rhubarb Crumble Tartlets

In terms of the newlyweds’ highly-anticipated wedding cake by Claire Ptak, guests can enjoy a slice at the reception.

Made using elderflower syrup produced at the Queen’s residence in Sandringham and with a total of 150 freshly hand-picked flowers to finish, it’s sure to be a major hit.

But what about the bubbly?

To toast the newlyweds, guests will be offered the likes of Pol Roger Brut Réserve Non Vintage Champagne alongside a selection of wines.

For those who don’t wish to have a sore head in the morning, apple and elderflower mocktails will also be served which features the same elderflower syrup used in the wedding cake.

After the couple have cut the cake, there will be speeches from Prince Charles, Prince Harry and Meghan.
