Ronald Cheng elated that new movie to go to Osaka

11 Feb – Ronald Cheng is excited that his new movie, "Elisa's Day" will be in competition at the 2021 Osaka Asian Film Festival (OAFF).

As reported on Singtao Daily, the actor, who spoke about the movie, admitted that he took no remuneration to show support for a new filmmaker, since he knew how tough it was to make it in the industry.

"I started from the bottom, from an actor to becoming director one step at a time, so I have a deep passion for this. So when director Feng Zhi-Heng offered me the role, I said yes. Although the production cost was limited, the trust is not diminished," he said.

Ronald also sang praises for new filmmakers, saying that they have formed a kind of team that is worth supporting.

On the other hand, director Feng Zhi-Heng, who also wrote the film aside from directing it, expressed his gratitude to the festival for giving his movie a chance.

"Elisa's Day" is a story of young people being abandoned. Ronald's character represents the audience. It is tough to act out the sense of powerlessness, so I am grateful for his trust," he added.
