Robin Padilla unapologetic about "rude comment"

The actor stands by his response to Korean talent on "Pilipinas Got Talent"

16 Jan – Robin Padilla went "sorry not sorry" for his previous decision to call out on a Korean contestant of "Pilipinas Got Talent" for his lack of fluency in Tagalog.

As reported on Rappler, the actor, who is also one of the judges on the show, recently drew flak from netizens for telling Kim Ji-wan who was auditioning with magic tricks that he should learn to speak Filipino since he has been in the country for a long time, and then refusing to play along with Kim's act.

Although he was criticised for being harsh towards Kim, who expressed nothing but admiration for the Philippines, Padilla stated that he is not regretting his previous reaction at all.

"When I go to other countries, I try to learn their language, because you're a visitor. You should be the one to adjust," said Padilla, adding that he couldn't understand how Kim is still not fluent at the language after living in the country for ten years.

"You cannot tell me that you love the Philippines and has a Filipina as your girlfriend and still can't speak Filipino. I am not trying to pick a fight, I was just giving him an advice," he added.

Padilla also used Philippine-based Korean host Ryan Bang as an example, saying that Bang is so fluent that he even speak better Filipino than Padilla could.

When mentioned that he didn't give the same response to a foreign contestant in the previous season, Padilla said that it was different because Kim said that he has been living in the country for ten years.
