Robin Padilla halts showbiz career for government service

20 May – Now that he has been elected a senator, Robin Padilla announced that he will be stopping his movie career to focus on his work in the government.

The actor, who spoke to the media following his proclamation at the PICC recently, stated that it is important for him to focus on law reforms and not to be distracted by other things.

As for his Marawi movie project, which has been postponed due to the pandemic, Padilla said that it would be his last movie.

"My shows will be on TV, but when it comes to showbiz, that would be my last," he said.

However, Padilla stressed that the project will continue, saying that it is a history that needs to be told. The said project, originally named "Children of the Lake", was to chronicle the 2017 Marawi siege.

Earlier, the senator-elect thanked his voters, for bringing back a Muslim representation to the Senate.

"Our win is a symbol of unity of the Muslim and Christian communities. For a very long time, almost 30 years, no Muslim became a senator. In my sorties, I asked our countrymen to give chance to the Muslims for us to have representation in the Senate. You have given that opportunity to our brothers," he said.
