Robin Padilla donates money to assist Marawi victims

The actor donates PHP 5 million in hopes of helping displaced victims and affected children

21 Aug - Actor Robin Padilla was revealed to have donated PHP 5 million to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in hopes to assist the victims of the siege in Marawi.

As reported on Inquirer, the actor, who met with President Rodrigo Duterte in Malacañang on 16 August, presented the donation to DWSD Undersecretary, Emmanuel Leyco to be used on the "immediate psychosocial intervention for the children affected by the armed conflict in Marawi City," according to the statement released by Malacañang.

Padilla also shared several photos from the meeting on Instagram, writing, "This day was blessed with His compassion and mercy because the prayer of the Muslims Filipinos - not only of the Moro brothers, but also our [fellow countrymen] who continue to pray for the good consequences of Marawi."

According to PEP report, it is estimated that around 400,000 residents have been displaced due to the ongoing war.
