Robert De Niro hurls a live F-bomb at Donald Trump during the Tony Awards

Robert De Niro can’t seem to stand in front of a microphone without delivering a volley of abuse at Donald Trump these days, but last night the actor surpassed even himself.

Taking to the stage at the annual US theatre awards, the Tonys, in his hometown of New York, he dropped the F-bomb during the live television broadcast.

The Goodfellas star was set to introduce rock legend Bruce Springsteen for a live performance, but had other ideas once arriving on stage.

Without any warning, he announced: “I’m gonna say one thing. F**k Trump.”

He then added, as the crowd rose in a standing ovation: “It’s no longer down with Trump. It’s f**k Trump.”

Though some footage appeared to have censored the remark, other footage found it in its full and frank form (and as such, is NSFW).

De Niro also urged people to vote in the mid-term elections coming in November. Speaking about Springsteen, he went on: “Bruce, you can rock the house like nobody else. And even more important in these perilous times, you rock the vote, always fighting for, in your own words, ‘Truth, transparency, and integrity in government.’ Boy, do we need that now.”

It is, as previously mentioned, not the first time that DeNiro has taken aim at Trump.

He’s done so on numerous occasions, but never more viscerally than prior to the 2016 election, when he released an online clip for Vice, in which he said:

“He’s a punk, a dog, he’s a pig,” he said.

“Colin Powell [former secretary of state] said it best: he’s a national disaster. He’s an embarrassment to this country. It makes me so angry this country has gotten to this point that this fool, this bozo, has wound up where he has.

“He talks how he’d like to punch people in the face? Well, I’d like to punch him in the face.”
