Rita Ora Among Contenders For Female Lead In The Flash

Three contenders have been named for the female lead in Warner Bros/DC’s ‘The Flash,’ and British pop star Rita Ora is one of them.

The fastest man alive will be portrayed by British actor Ezra Miller, who very briefly appeared in the role in 'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ but will properly debut in the upcoming 'Justice League.'

The solo movie is set to be directed by Rick Famuyiwa, director of 'Dope’ - and according to Variety, Famuyiwa’s favourite for the part is his 'Dope’ actress Kiersey Clemons.

However, The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit revealed via Twitter that Ora and another Brit, Lucy Boynton, are also in contention for the part.

It has not yet been confirmed who the female lead in 'The Flash’ actually is (Warner Bros have confirmed neither the casting reports nor the character’s identity), but word is that the character will be Iris West, reporter for Central City’s Picture News and love interest of The Flash’s alter ego Barry Allen.

Clemons (below left) was recently seen in 'Bad Neighbours 2,’ and is set to appear in the upcoming 'Flatliners’ remake with Ellen Page, whilst Boynton (right) recently appeared in 'Sing Street’ and 'The Blackcoat’s Daughter.'

Meanwhile, singer and 'X-Factor’ judge Ora has appeared in 'Fast & Furious 6,’ 'Southpaw’ and 'Fifty Shades of Grey’ (plus its two upcoming sequels).

'The Flash’ was originally set to be directed by Seth Grahame-Smith, who reportedly pulled out over creative differences; however, Famuyiwa will still be working from Grahame-Smith’s script, which was itself developed from a treatment by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

Set to shoot later this year, 'The Flash’ is expected to hit screens on an as-yet unconfirmed date in 2018.

Before that, The Flash will be seen in 'Justice League,’ opening 17 November 2017.
